The science inside the plant

Research & development

We develop new pharmaceutical formulations with local and international experts, and run the scientific studies that follow a preparation from its first laboratory trial to the last day of its shelf life.

Focus areas

Four areas the team works across

Each area has its own tools and expertise, and all of them end at the same requirement: a preparation that can be manufactured, stays stable across its shelf life, and is registered with the regulator.

  • Formulation development

Developing new pharmaceutical formulations in cooperation with local and international experts, focused on improving bioavailability, reducing side effects and simplifying dosing regimens.

  • Stability & efficacy studies

Conducting accelerated and long-term scientific studies to guarantee product efficacy and safety across shelf life, under temperature and humidity conditions that mirror the regional climate.

  • Innovation in herbal medicines

Advancing innovation in dietary supplements and herbal medicines by standardising active-extract content and documenting and chemically assaying their sources.

  • Hormonal therapeutics

Scientific and technical preparation for launching the hormonal line, including selection of initial formulations and the design of containment and validation protocols.

The route

From idea to pharmacy shelf

Five stages every new preparation passes through before it reaches a patient — and no stage begins before the one before it is closed.

  1. Stage01

    Needs assessment

Analysing local and regional market needs and identifying uncovered therapeutic gaps.

  2. Stage02

    Laboratory design

Developing an initial formulation, selecting suitable excipients and studying their compatibility with the active.

  3. Stage03

    Pilot batches

Producing laboratory then pilot batches on the actual line to verify manufacturability at larger scale.

  4. Stage04

    Stability studies

Accelerated and long-term testing that establishes shelf life and storage conditions suited to the regional climate.

  5. Stage05

    Registration & launch

Compiling and submitting the registration dossier to the regulatory authorities, then launching commercial production upon approval.

What development rests on

An idea alone does not make a medicine. Behind it sit two laboratories that measure, production lines the batch is trialled on, and a documentation system that keeps every number with its date.

  • Physicochemical laboratory

Assay, disintegration, dissolution, pH and viscosity measured for every formulation under development.

  • Microbiological laboratory

Total counts and pathogen screening for herbal formulations, syrups and topical preparations.

  • Pilot batches on the line

A formulation is trialled on the same equipment that will later produce it — not at laboratory scale alone.

  • Documentation & development file

Every trial, result and change is recorded in the preparation's file — the same file that later underpins the registration dossier.

Rules we do not bend

Four rules govern every development project, however urgent it is.

  • No formulation moves to the production line before excipient compatibility with the active is demonstrated in the laboratory.

  • Shelf life is set by a stability study result — never by analogy with a similar preparation.

  • Every number is recorded with its date and signature; what is not documented does not count.

  • Any out-of-specification result halts the route until its cause is explained and the investigation is closed.
